Air
Travel
Attendees, mentors, and special guests would fly into
the Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) located in Greenville,
South Carolina. GSP is located approximately 46 miles from The Strom
Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs housed at Clemson
University. Through our partnership, we will have access to University
vans to commute attendees from the airport to the Clemson campus at
minimal cost.
Travel
via Personal Vehicles
South Carolina is centrally located amongst the states
that fall into the Southeastern region and parking will be arranged
for those attendees bringing their personal vehicles. Ground travel
will also be applicable to two assistants and the Institute Director.
The following Mapquest
Directions will lead you to Clemson. ***PLEASE
NOTE*** The Mapquest directions will take you to downtown Clemson. YOU
DO NOT WANT TO GO TO DOWNTOWN CLEMSON. To get to Lightsey Dorms, look
for signage directing you to the Botanical Gardens, which is on Perimeter
Road. The Lightsey Dorms will be on your right, on Perimeter Road. There
will be Project Citizen signs (red, white, and blue with balloons) directing
you to the dorms. If you reach Memorial Stadium (Death Valley), you
have gone too far.
On
Campus
It is
noteworthy that the location of the Institute is centrally located in
the campus and has the classrooms, cafeteria, library, and on-campus
store within walking distance of the housing accommodations. The walkways
are shaded with large hardwood trees and are surrounded by beautiful
landscaping. The free bus transportation located on campus also transports
students and guests to the surrounding areas of the Clemson University,
increasing the mobility of the attendees after training hours.
